The Scorpio mask is not about being sneaky, although for less evolved Scorpios that can be the case.
Masks for Scorpio are about concealing the most essential parts of self from the public so that they can be shared only with the chosen inner-circle. Scorpio men and Scorpio women do not believe that everyone has earned the right to access the real them.

A few months ago, on the Fashinonista.com website, a wonderful article was published on the number of Scorpios that go into the fashion industry. Many commenters tried to figure out why. I mean, Scorpios are not known for following fashion or trends. They can, but it’s not that important to them. That’s more of a Libra thing.
Immediately, I felt there were two reasons to explain Scorpio’s attraction to the fashion world. One, they aim to use clothing as avant garde statements against mainstream couture. And two, they aim to use their natural ability to mask on a grand, artistic level.
Clothing, which inherently has its own personality, can easily substitute for the Scorpio’s personality — in the same way that a costume can replace a person with a character. Fashion created by Scorpio designers, in fact, seem like over-the-top costumes or facades to me.
With clothing masks, Scorpio might opt for basic, dark colors or go to the other extreme and hide behind ostentation that shocks and diverts attention. This attracts so much attention to the external that the internalScorpio is safely ignored.
Fashion is really the most extravagant Scorpio mask possible, allowing Scorpios to create physical mirage and distance between themselves and others while hiding in plain sight. Go ahead and focus on their clothing, just don’t fixate on their eyes or their soul!
Alter Ego
Scorpios often create a second ego or alter ego — much like comic strip superheroes.
A Scorpio likes to think that he or she is in real life Superman, but moves through the world as Clark Kent by choice. At the risk of sounding astrologically elitist, Scorpios try to suppress their more potent selves and find it a struggle to pretend to blend in.
Some Scorpios might use the alter ego mask to hide their intensity because it’s too much for others. That is never good, though. Even if people leave you because you are “too much” (Scorpios know what I mean), you should still be your intense, profound selves — even if only in the presence of kindreds.
Scorpio or Scorpionic people might go through public name changes as part of embracing an alter ego or have regular fake names that they use. Often they might also change the names of people close to them, giving them new and special personas.
Note: The alter-ego tendency of Scorpio is also related to Scorpio’s need for transformation.
Physicality
Although not shy, don’t be surprised to see a Scorpio sitting in the corner or the shadows, shrinking to have their physical presence obscured so they can people-watch while going unnoticed. Some Scorpios can be painfully unnerved by public places and large crowds of strangers. They might position themselves behind structures and other people or contort themselves in such a way as to minimize their bodies.
You can’t. The Scorpio will when they are certain you can handle their deepest thoughts, most poignant emotion and dramatic intensity with care and loyalty.
